If there’s anything that makes bad management suck even more, it’s being punished for the simple act of doing your job. It’s another thing when the following events unfold within the facilities of an International $400 Million/year company.
1. The Treasurer is locked out of her office and repeatedly denied network access by the co-CEO.
2. The Treasurer is constantly harassed and blocked from processing the payroll.
3. A RESTRAINING ORDER IS FILED TO PREVENT THE CO-CEO FROM CONTACTING THE TREASURER, IN ANY CAPACITY, OR INTERFERING WITH THE PAYROLL PROCESS.
But the Shawe Must Go On.
It really doesn’t help when Phil Shawe emails the following message to a stroke survivor and long-tenured employee:
“You know you were not supposed to do this…and you intentionally fucking did it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
DO YOU UNDERSTAND THIS YOU CRAZY PERSON.
THIS IS MY GODDAMN MONEY, MY COMPANY, AND YOU REPORT HALF TO ME…
Perhaps your shrink will have a position for you, because
TransPerfect isn’t going to.
This payroll fuck up is the last straw.”
Nowhere Near a Resolution
Human Resources? He quit. And here’s the best part according to the court document of the TransPerfect Lawsuit, “Shawe’s abusive behavior finally caused DeNoia to submit a letter ofresignation. On March 19, Shawe confronted Boodram with DeNoia’s not-yet-public letter of resignation and accused her of being the cause of his resignation.”
The Corporate Culture of TransPerfect is in crisis. Mr. Shawe is seeking a restraining order from Ms. Elting herself. He cites that her “greed and voracious appetite for material possessions” had “clouded” her view of what the company is worth.
For a company that has made hundreds of millions in breaking language barriers, they sure seem to come apart even on the most basic of company functions.
